We have approximately 15 qualified Leaders and Assistant Leaders who are all members of the PVG scheme and are actively engaged in Scouting training programmes.
Each of our Scouting Sections have about 20 young people (all 3 have a healthy mix of boys and girls). Occasionally we have to operate a waiting list for our Sections. We have a Waiting List Policy, but you can advance up the queue if you are willing to be a volunteer helper! Please note that we do not currently have a Squirrels Drey (4-5 years old).
We also have a Board of Trustees (previously called the Executive Committee) of 8 volunteers, who support the main Scouting activity with various admin jobs, managing the finances (and fundraising) and help devise overall strategy. All our Trustees are PVG-cleared and—along with some other wonderful PVG cleared volunteers—support day trips, Scouting events and overnight activities for the Scouts sections. A PDF version of our current constitution can be downloaded below; an accessible web version is also available.
History
After a hiatus of almost 40 years, Scouting was re-established in Dunning in 2017.
Our Beaver Colony was established by a group of highly enthusiastic parents, and it quickly became popular across the village, so our Cub Pack was established in 2018. With all these children getting older (and growing out of their uniforms), setting up a Scouts Troop was inevitable, so this was established in 2019. With the support of Perth & Kinross District, we established an Explorer Scout Unit (and Duke of Edinburgh Award programme) in 2023: those children don't stop getting older!
26th Perthshire (Dunning) Scout Group was registered as a Charity in Scotland (SC050026) on 11 March 2020.
