Wait List Policy
Our Sections in Dunning consist of:
- Beaver Scouts are boys and girls between six and eight years old.
- Cub Scouts are young people between 8 and 10½ years old.
- Scouts are young people between 10½ and 14 years old.
Each section has fluctuating numbers with a limit dictated by the number of Scout Leaders and capacity of our spaces.
We also operate an Explorer Scouts Unit (the DUDES) for 14-17 year olds. Young Leaders are also members of the Explorer Scouts, and work with each group of our Scout sections. The maximum number of Young Leaders is decided by the Section Leader and GSL.
If there are more applications to join than there are spaces, we will maintain a waiting list. Children can be put on the list once they are five years old. The list will be prioritised by:
- Boys & girls whose parents are Leaders in the Scout Group, or whose parents take an active role in supporting the Group (e.g. fundraising, administration etc.)
- Younger brothers or sisters of Scouts in the Group
- Attending or living within the catchment of Dunning School (as defined by Perth and Kinross Council)
- Existing members of the Scouts who have moved into the area
Thereafter, the child who has been on the list longest will be invited to take a place, provided they are young enough to spend at least a year in the Scout Group (any less and they will not get the full benefit).
Events
Children of registered adult volunteers (leaders and trustees) will be given a 24 hour advance opportunity to book places on any events.
