Support Us

There are lots of ways to support the Dunning Scout Group, the most important being to support and encourage your child to attend meetings and events. If you are struggling to participate (whether that's money for fees, walking boots or uniform, or transport to venues) please contact your section leader or the Group Scout Leader (Nathan). We have a hardship fund for financial support, and there are always spaces in cars for sharing a ride.

Volunteer

Children thrive when surrounded by positive energy and good role models.

There are varying levels of commitment, some with a small training overhead and requirement for PVG clearance. If you've never worked with children before, you'll be fully supported and mentored, and everyone who gets involved gets a huge amount of enjoyment from it. In addition to supporting your child and helping young people in our local community, your child will be prioritised on wait lists and events.

There are 3 main routes to getting involved:

  1. Training as a volunteer:
    1. A uniformed volunteer within a Scouts section. Can be as often as you wish.
    2. A trustee to oversee and support the running of the group. Meeting a few times a year, plus ad-hoc support for specific events and projects.
  2. If you have a skill or interesting job, you could host a visit, offer a demonstration or just come and chat about what you love. The children love to get involved in cooking, craft, building, making and finding out about the world around them.
