Duke of Edinburgh's Award Info

We started the Bronze level award in 2023, and introduced Silver in 2024; maybe Gold 2026/27 When enrolment opens, you'll need to register at scouts.dunning.rocks/dofe The structure mirrors much of the Scouting programme for Top Level awards and consists of the following sections:

  1. Physical
  2. Skills
  3. Volunteering
  4. Expedition
  5. Residential (Gold award only)

Participants have to complete 3-12 months activity in each of the first 3 sections, depending upon level and previous experience. Within Scouting the expedition can be fully supported for hiking, cycling and canoe/kayaking; participants can also complete expeditions on horse, sailing or wheelchair. In Dunning, we only support hiking expeditions.

More information about the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at https://www.dofe.org/do/what/

All participants get discounts at Tiso, Millets, Blacks, Go Outdoors and Ultimate Outdoors. Note that the Scout Group has some gear that can be borrowed - such as waterproofs, boots, rucksacks, tents and cooking equipment, so don't rush out and buy stuff! We'll give all participants and their parents guidance on expedition equipment, but money and the newest gear should not be a barrier to accessing this award.
