Funding and Support 2025

We are grateful for the encouragement you give to your children by attending Scouting in Dunning and supporting our Group. Our volunteer leaders are generous and truly wonderful people; the shelter in Kincladie is a fabulous asset for us, with some great locations around the village for other fun activity. We also have an extensive programme of termly 'special' activities: either camps, hikes, visits or a supported event (such as the Perth Climbing Centre or Willowgate water activities), which are all fantastic opportunities for our young people to learn more about the outside world.

2024 was a busy year, and we've achieved a lot, but we can only move forward into this new year with your support. Costs for all our activities, as well as the general running costs (registration, insurance etc) have increased dramatically in the past 12 months. With charity status established in 2020, we were able to reduce termly fees (from £25 to £20) by claiming Gift Aid, leaving us the cheapest Scout Group in Perth & Kinross. However, we have a potential shortfall in funds this year going in to 2026.

Whilst we have a small cash reserve, we will need to raise more funds to continue delivering Scouting. The trustees recently agreed that we should raise termly fees to £25 per child in 2025, but we will also need ongoing support from you all:

  1. Please complete Gift Aid declarations - you'll be sent reminders in March if you haven't already done them. This is a really important source of funding and literally takes you 60 seconds to complete.
  2. Please support any 'Group' events We'll be having a work day in Kincladie soon (hopefully Sat 25 January - tbc), with an awards celebration and social event later this term... details to follow. We'll also be looking at one or two simple fund-raising opportunities this year.
  3. Please think about volunteering on a regular basis - either as a trustee (money, maintenance and odd jobs) or at the weekly meetings as a leader. It's really flexible, you'll be well supported and you'll be doing a great thing for your own child and the local community. Talk to myself, Nathan or any of the leaders at weekly meetings; see https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteer/volunteering-with-scouts/ or you can send us a message via https://scouts.dunning.rocks/join

Help For You

Did you know we have a store full of walking boots, waterproofs , jackets (sizes 6-13yo) and some sleeping bags that you can borrow? Contact myself, Nathan or Kate (or use the form https://scouts.dunning.rocks/clothing-request ) if you need anything. You don't need to be forking out for expensive gear that may only be worn once or twice before it's too small. We also have some pre-used Scout uniform items (donations appreciated).

We have a small fund set aside for financial support. If you need help, or know of someone who could do with some financial aid, please contact me or Nathan. Money shouldn't be a barrier to attend meetings or go on special events.
