We are now a charity
Today we were awarded charitable status with the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
It doesn't change how we deliver Scouting in Dunning, but it demonstrates that we have charitable purposes and deliver benefits to the community. It does mean that we can now process all the Gift Aid declarations you will have made when signing your children up, so we hope that it will benefit the Group financially in the longer term.
The current Executive Committee now become Trustees, which carries certain legal responsibilities: 'Charity trustee duties'.
Setting up a charity is just the start of the journey. With your help, we will work on our longer term plan to expand what we can deliver and ensure that the Group thrives well into the future.
A charity needs people to run it. All charities must have charity trustees, and we need the support of our Leaders, volunteer helper, the parents and - of course - our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and our Young Leaders. Thank you to everyone in helping us get this far.
