Walking Course
We've confirmed a weekend date of 20/21 April for some adult volunteer hill walking training at Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead. Looks like we can break into 2 groups covering different aspects:
- A general hill walking skills course to cover 'Terrain 0' hikes and expeditions.
- A prep course for a 'Terrain 1' hill permit (with T1 assessment at a later date)
The aim of the weekend is to make you confident to lead or supervise groups of young people in a variety of contexts. Details to be confirmed, but we have lodge accommodation (twin, en-suite rooms all booked), catered from breakfast Saturday to lunch Sunday; fees are paid from a combination of Group, Region and Scotland funds - we just need your time!
As a Scout Group, we want to build confidence and skills amongst all our volunteers (that's you), so that we can offer a bit more to our young people, and that you have nice time without feeling overwhelmed. But not everyone needs to scale the Eiger, so we need to get an idea of what your current skills (if any) are, and what you'd like to achieve in the next year or 2.
So could you answer the following questions so that we can try and put together an appropriate programme that meets your needs. There are quite a lot of options in the 'Optional questions...Terrain 1 Hill Permit' (hidden section, at the bottom), and if you don't yet have much experience or confidence, use these options to jot down what you'd like to learn. If we break into 2 separate groups, we'll all be in the same pub together each night to compare notes.
